Nigerian actress and comedian Yvonne Orji made her first late night appearance last night on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
Yvonne is a star on one of the favorite shows “Insecure” where she plays Molly.
She made an energetic entrance as her and Colbert exchanged dance moves before sitting down to talk.
She opened up how about sher comedy, getting career advice from the “Holy Spirit,” and shooting “racy” Insecure scenes.
Although, she had decided not to go to medical school, she shared, after failing Organic Chemistry, and instead got a masters in Public Health.
However, after entering the pageant Miss Nigeria in America, she realized she had to showcase a talent.
Having none, she prayed to God about it.
There, she heard a voice asking that she do comedy.
Meanwhile, when Colbert asks how Orji’s conservative Nigerian parents feel about watching her in the show, She said:
she thought her parents who were living at Nigeria at the time would never see the show,
but it eventually premiered in Nigeria and an “aunt” ended up telling them when and where to watch it.
“I was like, who is this aunt that keeps calling you and ruining my life,”
“Now they faithfully sit down to watch it but, you know….I get them good gifts on their birthdays.”
she joked.
