The 2018 Asia Games was totally dominated by African athletes.
However, Nigerian athlete, Edidiong Odiong takes the fight all in, inscribing her name in Bahrain’s history.
She broke a record and went on to set a new national record in Bahrain in women’s 200 metres.
Although, representing Bahrain, Odiong was part of the Asia-Pacific Team that took part in the just-concluded IAAF Continental Cup in Ostrava.
She finished in a record time of 22.62 seconds.
Although she finished fifth position, she however succeeded in breaking a national record set by Rakia Al-Gasara.
Al-Gasara had finished in a time of 22.65 seconds at the 2008 Golden Gala in Rome.
As a member of a team of four athletes, Odiong set two national records in the 4×100 metres relay and one national record in the 4×400 metres relay.
This feat in the 200 metres is her first record as an individual Bahraini athlete.
