I’m sick of boring myself with news of other artistes. Yes, call me biased or whatever comes to your mind, it’s still my well thought reasoning and opinion. It’s so hard to recognize other people doing just anything and calling it music; shaku shaku vibes everywhere- Bulltwat! It’s a total waste because the man who has always been killing the show from the onset has it all on lock down, you can take your opinion to the church and pray it out forty days and night or choose to argue with your data it’s nobody’s beeswax, at least not mine. ‘Wiz’ freaking ‘Kid’ is the big bomb!
From ‘Super Star’ to ‘Ayo’ to ‘Sounds From the Other Side’ to the upcoming Made in ‘Lagos’, this brother is not slowing down, he isn’t calm at all. Save your artist for the next generation because we have our legend already. It’s in the books; actions speak louder than brags. It’ll take the grace of God and the summoning of spirits for any artist to conquer the feat Wizkid has conquered over the years. We can’t begin to talk about those artistes that started when he started, the prospects were way up there for all of them at that time, even for those who were successful before that time. It was sky as the sky as the beginning point or nothing else for them then, but the future which is now and beyond is and might be tilting towards another side of the coin. Did I just hear someone say Skalez!…I didn’t say anything though- arms up!
Did I just hear Solidstar?-‘Omotenaaaa!’ OK, Mr, where on earth did Omotena and Oluchi take you to? Can you not see that the wave has changed and that you need to step the hell up?! You don’t joke with the musical feelings of your fans and then leave them hanging with your last smashing single, ‘Wait’, without telling them that you actually meant it literally.
Why?! Iceprince my man you are one full pack of an experienced heart-breaker. This is a fan lamenting with pain on behalf of your large number of fans who’ve cheated on you with new happening rappers not because they’re better than you but because you are just nowhere to be found.
‘Mr Incredible Mr’, yea OG, you know yourself. You were built for this game, your style, your talent and charisma all perfect. Please don’t let the feeling that you’re a god as regards rap in this part of Africa, get to your head. The world has evolved, music has evolved, give us that old feel of your great self-mixed with a spice of the new wave; learn from 2baba for Christ sake. P.S- Stop killing Choc City, act fast! A single paragraph for you wasn’t inadvertent.
Shaydee the ever talented, sweet voiced papa, I seriously need to whisper this to you (you need a seer’s advice, see Wizzy now?!). Let’s keep it between us, OG!
Ycee, you wouldn’t have imagined yourself on this list. Please don’t go AWOL for long we are waiting, don’t give us a reason to crown another ‘Jagaban’. As for Ketchup and Mr 2kay, it’s just sad. I tried writing more on you guys but words were scared to spill out.
What’s life without the ladies? Really, they spice up the world, the Nigerian music industry would’ve been something else if they were not here grinding with their sweet voices and cute faces and all that good stuff. Y’all ladies claim to be hard working in this music game and putting your all into it but leave whenever you want to or feel like leaving, consistency isn’t the watchword for you gals maybe something else is.
Some of you if not all, claim to support yourselves in the industry after allegations of you guys not helping yourselves went viral but the truth is that YOU ALL STILL DON’T HELP YOURSELVES! It takes a being to make a being; it takes unity to achieve success. This makes us to rapidly lose our female singers or rappers after some time or watch them slowly fade off.
That’s how the likes of Sasha P, Kel, Blaise, etc are dead to us. Cynthia Morgan has been ‘rastafired’ out of the game; I hope she’s working to get back, Chidinma Ekile, I respect you a lot and the fact you are delving into areas like acting and all but madam posting cute pictures every time on Instagram won’t save your career. We need to hear more songs from you please, your talent is too precious. Ruby Gyang and Emma Nyra well done o!
Please don’t make the mistake of being inconsistent, don’t fade out in any way whether slowly or rapidly. Make the good music that you’re known for and stay relevant. I know it’s not easy, with an industry that’s somewhat patriarchal, but will you then give up and disappoint your fans? Don’t give the guys in the industry any chance, choke them with your successes, keep working, and stay relevant!
For all those who weren’t mentioned you all know yourselves, please what is actually happening? I beg you don’t fade off and let it get to the extent that you’ll start instituting unnecessary law suits like one of our brothers. Give your fans the new vibe; give them benefit of the doubt that they have now about y’all. Save us the stress of cracking up when we remember how well you started and your latter lackadaisical attitude towards your craft.
These artistes have lazily dragged and lagged behind within the past few years, refusing to catch up with the trend. For them it has been a routine of a little period of hard work and long days, months and years of relaxing. This is an ailment and it consistently feeds on music artistes with prospects and even established ones.
Lastly, before I forget, David! David! Stop wasting your hits on producers that destroy hits because as it is now, three of your songs are equal to one Wizzy’s song.
All I’ll say for now is that Wizzy and Davido are the bomb! Don’t give us a reason to question you both later.
They say, Change is the constant thing and it catches up with time, music artiste flow with the times but not all can flow with the waves. So they get somehow left behind.
Nevertheless, should dominance in the mainstream be the true measure of an artiste. Some good music craft aren’t friendly with the mainstream, yet good to ‘true lovers of music’.
